Why Should you Install a Burglar Alarm

By: Mark Tinkler

Burglar or intruder alarms will stop burglars from entering your property. Burglar alarms can help protect your possessions, occupants and reduce your insurance premiums.

It’s always a good idea to display a burglar alarm box and alarm bell at the front of your home to act as a deterrent to unlawfully minded individuals.

When burglars are targeting homes a good number of them are opportunists, seeking for the lowest risk building to enter. This is likely to be a property without an intruder alarm.

Types of Intruder Alarm.

Bell only alarm
A bell only burglar alarm makes an audible noise from the outdoor and internal bells when the alarm is triggered. A bell only, or audible alarm may well deter intruders and alert the neighbours and when activated but will not generate any other type or response.

Speech Dialler Alarm System
A speech dialling alarm system makes it possible for a burglar alarm system to send voice messages to any number of land line telephone numbers or mobile phones. This message can be personalised. In the event of activation the alarm will call the telephone number, or numbers that you have selected and deliver a voice message such as 'Attention there has been a break-in'. This is type of alarm is especially useful for small business premises and shops.

A speech dialler can more often than not be added to most alarm systems as an additional piece of equipment or bought in a combined system.

Monitored alarm
A monitored alarm system is connected via a telephone line to a remote central station. The signal is monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In the event of the alarm being activated, a number of responses which you have chosen can be triggered such as informing the police and the property owner.

A monitored alarm system service starts from around £20 per month, plus an installation fee.

Panic alarm
A personal attack alarm or panic alarm is activated by a button typically positioned in a bed room. In the event that the home owner feels threatened, it can be activated to trigger the burglar alarm system and depending on the kind of alarm, can inform the police, a speech dialler or a third party selected by yourself.

The best deterent as far as a burglar is concerned is an alarm on show outside your residence, there are many different kinds that I have noted a a small number of of. London, in particular does have a high rate of burglaries commited each and every day. I have got intruder alarms in everyone of my homes. You do not have to use a specialist to fit the majority of them, unless you go for a very sofisticated brand. I use an "electrician london" company to install all of mine so that if I ever have a problem with any of the alarm systems I know precisely who to call to get it put right.

You can not be too careful these days. If you are thinking of buying an intruder alarm system then please shop around. If you are going to get someone to install it for you then use some one who knows what they are doing.
