What Should I Ask? Questions About Fundraising

By: Edwin Smith

Doing a fundraiser for the first time may seem a little overwhelming - especially if it is not necessarily your choice! There are lots of options to choose from when you and your group decide to start raising money, and you will probably have lots of questions. Although you fundraising consultant may answer all the questions you have about the program you choose, there are a few questions you should always ask when you are booking a fundraiser.
What are the requirements for this fundraiser? Each fundraiser is different, and different programs have minimums or shipping fees that you need to be aware of - so ask your consultant about the important reqirements you need to know.
Who do we make checks out to? This is a very important question. You want to check with your consultant to find out where the money is going. In most cases, your customers will write checks, made out to your group, when they purchase items. At the end of your fundraiser you will write one check to the fundraising company in order to pay for your total order.
How much will we make? Your group's profit is determined by many things. Different fundraising programs offer varying profits. Some will have a set profit rate, while others will offer a profit that is determined by the amount your group sells. Make sure you are aware of the amount you need to sell in order to make the amount of money you want to earn.
How long before I get my products? Again, each program is different. If you are trying to get your products by a certain date, or for a special occasion or holiday you should plan to book your fundraiser far in advance so that you can ensure a timely delivery. Keep in mind that while your intentions may be to get a fundraiser turned in by a certain deadline, if you wait until the last day of the deadline delivery will be booked pretty tight - make sure everything is turned in by the date you discuss with your fundraising consultant. Also, remember that delivery dates are often a little more flexible than you may like - so explain to your consultant what you are trying to acheive.
