Cardboard Boxes and bags are the staple for moving - whether you're using plastic cardboard boxes and under bed storage containers, or getting cardboard ones - using suitcases, or black and plastic bags, you will need to consider how many you need and allow for extra. Settling for cardboard instead of plastic is a proper alternative, as they are a lot more cost effective and perfect for the job at hand. You can get them from a lot of various web sites online and throw in a box of stickers and tape to boot. The great thing about boxes is that they are so easy to pack things into and stack on top of each other without the worry of breaking things not to mention they are easy to carry. You can also get boxes from grocery stores, and sometimes from recycler and on Craig's list. Some moving companies also supply them if you're using their vans, or their moving men, or provide them if you are letting them pack for you. When you go to pack up all of your linens and your clothing there is nothing better than using sturdy plastic bags instead of a suitcase as they can easily cram into those crevasses that you couldn't get a normal suitcase into. There is no sense in buying cheap plastic bags for this though as if you do you will find that as soon as you go to pick one of them up it will bust it's seams sometimes even if you double bag. Snagging risks are also something you will have to think about, as anything jagged might cause rips in your plastic bags. All of the containers that you use need to be of the stack able variety so that they can blend in and stack well with the boxes you are using. If this is not possible you need to put your boxes in the moving van fist so you can get the maximum usage of the space that you have.
