The way to spice up your Low Cost Web Design for efficiency

By: Dewald de Bruyn

So what are these critical automation spice components?
? Contact page
? Opt-in form
? Autoresponder
? Ecommerce
? Desk top publishing to your site or blog
1. Contact form: This may seem an odd item to categorize under "automation". Consider that Google loves to see a "Contact Us" page and an "on-page" contact form. This may seem obvious but on countless websites one has to literally search around for contact details. Automation in this regard refers to the ability for a site visitor to simply enter key information on a visible contact form requiring an email and name with query details. Many website contact forms have Captcha requirements to keep the spam bots at bay. This very "under- utilized" automated form can be crafted to get the visitor to part with valuable information. However, the point is that a site visitor is less impressed when they have to wait for the browser or desk top email software to load.
2. Opt-in forms - One of the most valuable tools when you are running a money site or blog promoting products and information. However opt-in forms are not confined to internet marketers, but are a common feature on virtually all major information sites and News publication businesses. Opt in forms have many uses and benefits. Typically they are used to capture the information from site visitors that either subscribes to a newsletter, or is drawn to further promotional information and promises of free and bonus material.
The value of this automation lies herein that the web site owner is able to capture and build an opt-in list 24/7 without any intervention, while the subscriber gets immediate access to the information. Most web sites make use of a paid third party service to manage these lists through a double opt-in system. Many people confuse the issue of autoresponders with that of a third party service that essentially manages our subscription or opt-in list.
Many open source web development platforms, like Wordpress, are able to manage this automation effortlessly. This is particularly useful to small business and individuals that are still building a subscription list without the hassle of the monthly expense of a third party service. The point here is that your business is on autopilot and does not require constant action or intervention on your part. Can you imagine the effort to keep up with a growing list of emails every day if you had to personally attend to each and every email?
3. Autoresponders - Short for "Automated response". When we talk about automation most people are fairly familiar with autoresponders. They are typically linked to your web email address and are "programmed" to send a single or series of pre-written messages to the sender of an email, addressed to your address. This is closely associated with the features mentioned above. However in the strictest sense, autoresponders are configured to send a single response triggered by an email to your web or browser based email address.
Any Gmail account can also be set-up to act as an autoresponder, as is most cPanel based mail accounts. You have to set up a pre-written message such as "thank you for your email, we will respond ??" The benefit to a site owner is that the sender receives a confirmation immediately, and you now have time on your hands to adequately research or investigate the problem or question on hand. Again automation and benefits to both the site visitor and the site owner.
4. Web based e-commerce. Simply the ability to receive payment on your web site, without your participation or intervention 24/7. Again automation is the key to provide a facility on your web site or business blog that is not only convenient for the visitor but also holds huge financial benefits for the web site owner. Here we use 3rd party services like Paypal, Clilckbank and many other well established service providers. The ability, not only handle single transactions, but also the feature to host a full blown catalogue of multiple products, shopping cart and secure payment procedure is an automation process that is that has contributed to web site success.
5. Desk top publishing. The last of the features of essential automation elements is desk top publishing. Not in the sense that you probably immediately think. Here reference is made to the ability to easily manage and update your site content. If you use WordPress this is already a fairly easy and routine task. Windows Live Writer has made it an even easier with a free desk top automation procedure. Now it is possible to update your web site or business blog web design without even logging into the cPanel or server.
With out the benefits of automation the price of organizing even a small web site can become too high, not only in direct monetary terms, but also the time demanded to attend to daily actions. Advertising and growing your business blog or web site should take precedence over routine activities that lend to straightforward automation. However you will only have this luxury if you can automate in a cost-effective manner. Growing any online business without the ability to automate effectively, will only be an (needless) uphill battle.
