Team Lester Racing Season 2010

By: Bobby Cuba Amore

Cuba-Style.com and Team Lester Racing have joined hands in promoting Cuba. Team Lester Racing is an Haarlem based team will take part in the Porsche 944 Basic Cup in 2010, which starts Saturday the 10th of April with the first event at the beautiful Zandvoort circuit. The team exists of two drivers, Dingeman Vink and Paul Huyse, who are both rookies for this season. With the great help from Cuba-Style.com they will be able to show a steady performance in the midfield, and they should be able to reach the podium at least once if the chances are right !

At the first event of the season (april 10th) Dingeman had a great experience, although he couldnīt start race 1 because of a faulty gearbox, he finished race 2 in 6th position. Not bad for a rookie.?
The second event (may 9th) Paul was at the wheel of the Porsche 944. He showed to be a good starter, but had some trouble to hold on to his position further on in the race. He eventually scored a 12th and a 9th place.

In the weekend of may the 15th and 16th it was Dingeman's turn to drive the car and he did very well. Starting the first race in the middle of the grid and finishing in 8th place meant he started the second race on pole position.
That's not an easy task for a rookie, but he managed to stay ahead for at least a few corners, before the faster drivers started to overtake him. Again he finished in 8th place, so for the third an final race of the event he was again in pole position.
After some good fights he couldn't finish the race sadly because of a flat tire. But hey, that's racing !
In june there was a pre-summer break, so no races and in july the cup raced at the TT circuit at Assen, but Team Lester Racing did not participate at that race.
On the 7th of august Paul was back at the wheel and he had his hands full. It was raining very heavily, resulting in very tricky conditions. But he had a fairly good qualifying, which meant he could start race 1 from 7th position.
He had some trouble with his first wet standing start, so he lost some positions right away. Just when he was fighting his way back to the front, the battery broke down and so the engine lost all of its power and he had to retire into the pit.
This meant starting the second race from the back, again in very wet conditions. The start went a little bit better, but it took some time to overtake the cars right ahead of him. The track just got wetter and wetter, so when he drove up to the 8th place he decided to consolidate and bring the car home, which he did.
At the moment Dingeman is in 15th place in the season standings and Paul right behind him at 16th position, leaving another 9 drivers behind them. If they could combine their points Team Lester Racing would be in 9th position.
Now there are still two events to go for this season. In the weekend of the 11th and 12th of september it's the Grand Prix Classics at Zandvoort and the final races are also at Zandvoort on the 16th of october.
You can meet these guys and follow their progress during the season at teamlesterracing.com.
