There are things that we do to try to conserve energy. We insulate of our home; we buy incandescent bulbs in recyclable packages and use solar power. We set the thermostat down every evening just before we go to bed. With all of these combined you can make an impact on saving energy. How can we help the environment? We start by making small changes and it can add up to greater things. A small change like changing to bamboo hangers can have a positive result on the environment. Who thinks about what type of hangers they use? Up until now hasn’t made a difference. Many people made the switch from wire hangers to plastic to avoid those nasty lines and wrinkles on the shoulders of their clothing. But is plastic safe for the environment? Next were wooden hangers that were available in pine, oak, cherry and birch. They looked nice and expensive and added a nice touch to the closet. Now they are bamboo hangers taking the place of the plastic and the wooden hangers. These hangers were all durable and attractive. Now with the planet being more concerned about the environment, bamboo has caught everyone’s attention. Bamboo has always been a useful natural resources in Eastern cultures such as China. Panda bears eat bamboo and many shelters are made from bamboo. Bamboo is a renewable resource. It grows quickly and can be harvested faster than trees. It is a grass so it does use as much water as trees do. Bamboo conserves water and helps filter air. The root system keeps soil from eroding by cleaning the water around and sending nutrients into the earth. Bamboo forest creates an umbrella-like covering with its large leaves that protect the soil. Bamboo has been used in making many items from buildings to furniture. It is now being preferred over hardwood floors because it is a cheaper material to use. Bamboo is known for its beauty and strength. It is the ideal material for flooring. Flooring has to endure years of traffic and wear. More and more people are flocking to bamboo products for their furnishings and now there clothes hangers. Some have desired to help with environmental issues but may have thought that they don’t have the money. Most people can’t afford to convert to solar powered homes. Bamboo hangers are a simple and inexpensive way to help. Your closet will be beautiful and organized and you will have made a difference.
