Future Flying vehicles - in the works

By: Jason Mcdonald

Heres a scenario, you get out of bed and hurry to to make up some of your lost minutes. After getting to your automobile you have made up a little time. Now your running only twenty minutes late to work. Your now in the car and are ready for that long commute. Traffic is a bummer as always but since your are 20 minutes behind, way worse. All that time you had save by rushing out the door seems futile as you sit in your vehicle cursing the traffic because you will now be so late you wish you would have stayed home. If you are a commuter this has probably happened to you. Well this may soon become a thing of the past.
Several new start up companies are racing each other to produce the worlds first mass produced flying car. The flying cars of the future have been promised to be the demise of all traffic problems. This may seem impossible, but companies like Terrafugia and Labische say this is not only a vehicle of the future but most likely a automobile of the next few years. Both manufacturers feel like they are very close to getting the rights to mass produce this vehicle.
Some of these producers have working prototypes, while the Terrafugia has already had several working non teathered test runs. These manufacturers aren't exactly working on impossible ideas or brand new technology. Companies like Moller have been working on this for some time. A company in Washington State had a few vehicles that it kept and actually used for a while, this was over 50 years ago. The company that has seemed to model their vehicle off of this longview washington flying vehicle, feels they are less than two years out. It seems that the Jetsons were on the right track and we may soon be there as well.
