Fundraising for Little League

Little League is a term known all over the nation that is synonymous with youth sports and in most cases it is tied with Little League Baseball. Baseball is said to be the national pastime and without a way for children to play the sport, that might have not been the case. There are little league baseball organizations all over the world. In many cases being on a youth baseball team is a way for many children to stay out of trouble.

Unfortunately little league organizations are not cheap to run. The running of a little league can go into the thousands of dollars and without this money the children would have no where to play. That is where little league fundraisers come into play. It is the necessary evil, as many parents see it. To the kids, it is just a part of playing the sport. Having a little league baseball fundraiser can be a huge, but necessary, undertaking. One of the most important things is to make sure that the organization has delegated an individual to handle this task.
There are many ways that little league fundraising can take place. Many organizations hold raffles or sell candy. If you are holding a raffle it is a good idea to get as the prize something that has a perceived value. Remember, the organization is putting up the cost of the prizes, so going overboard on the prizes might defeat the whole purpose of the raffle. Having a prize such as a T.V. would be great. You can find a decent T.V. at a reasonable cost that won't break the bank of the organization.
Selling candy is simple way to have fundraising for little league. Yes, there is typically the upfront cost of the candy, but with the drive that the kids typically have, making that money back, plus a profit, should not be an issue. Besides, who doesn't like candy!
So, the next time a youngster comes to your door and says that he or she is "fundraising for little league", know that your money will be going to a good cause. By supporting the local youth sports organizations we will be able to give our kids a place to go, have fun, learn and feel like they belong.
