Florida Native Bitterly Disappointed With Dishonest Treatment From a Local GM Dealership.

The GM mission statement regarding their certified used vehicles is patently clear.They state:We maintain high standards for two very simple reasons - our good name and your valuable trust. We've built some of the most memorable vehicles in the world over the last century. But even more important, we have built relationships with our customer, one vehicle at a time. And we are going to continue our mission by dedicating ourselves to offering only the finest motor vehicles.

Tony was one Florida resident who was won over by the strong guarantee that comes with a GM certified used vehicle. He learned that the van he was about to buy had gone through a rigorous 117 point bumper to bumper inspection, and had passed the test. That means he was buying a worry free vehicle that came with a 12 month, or 12,000 mile warranty plus a limited additional 100,000 Mile, 5 Year Powertrain limited warranty. And on top of that, he had three days to test the vehicle, and if it didn't meet his standards he could return it.

Believing in the warranty, Mr. Jacobs purchases the certified used van from Tropical Auto Group, Tropical Chevrolet at 8880 Biscayne Blvd. Miami, FL 33138-3343 Phone 1-866-791-4531. Two days after the purchase, he discovered, much to his consternation, that the vehicle he had purchased was not up to snuff. The transmission didn't shift properly, and the brakes were no good. Tony took the van back to the shop. He explained the problem to the technician on duty, who acknowledged that the transmission wasn't working properly. But, he said, the technician who fixes transmissions won't be back for 1-2 months. Realizing that he was not getting the service promised in the contract, Mr. Jacobs went to speak with the manager Mark Diaz. Unfortunately, instead of helping him, Mr. Diaz laughed in his face, and ridiculed him in the presence of other customers.

Mr. Jacobs then called IAN WILDSTEIN, the owner of Tropical Chevrolet. Mr. Wildstein did not return his calls. Now Mr. Jacobs is left holding a van with a bad transmission that will cost thousands to repair and a set of bad brakes to boot. Instead of living up to their agreement Tropical Chevrolet humiliated Mr. Jacobs and ignored him, a far cry from the mission statement of the parent company. Mr. Jacobs noted that if anyone is planning to buy a second hand certified GM truck or car, they should not go to Tropical Chevrolet in Miami, Florida.
