By: Jenny Hartland

If you are planning to spend a day atthe beach, chances are you'll have a lot of belongings to take with you. You could have towels, beach toys, chairs, cool boxes, beach umbrella, windbreak, picnic, barbecue and more. Even if you can park your car close to the beach you will still have to lug all this gear to your chosen spot. This is not much of a problem when there are a few capable grown-ups in your party, or bigger children but if you're planning a visit with babies or elder grown-ups you may end up with more things than you can carry. Then a beach cart will come into it's own.

As always, when choosing a new item of equipment, the initial thing to perform is write a list of exactly what you would like it to do. In the case of a beach wagon you should note down precisely what you ordinarily want to carry to the beach with you so you can ensure that you purchase the correct size and or sort of cart for your purposes. Carts can range from a load capability of fifty lbs right to six hundred lbs.

Also, think about whether you will want to make use of it in other situations. Some common examples of where you might do so include:

fishing outings
about the yard
volleyball practice
camping
use as a utility cart
live shows
picnics in the park

If you have limited storage space in your own home or in your car you will want to find a mini or folding beach cart. They've less space than the larger kinds but can often still move three or four beach loungers, a cooler and additional small objects such as books, sun screen, beach toys etc. The larger carts consume more area owing to their wider wheels. They usually have pneumatic tires that spread the weight well, stopping them becoming stuck in sand or other soft, rough surfaces.

Lastly consider beach carts that cunningly have more than one purpose. There's one, for example, that is a type of rolling beach lounger and an additional that becomes a table once all your stuff has been removed.
